Labor and Deliver Support Testimonial |
|
Danielle Third was recommended to me as a labour and delivery support therapist (for the delivery of my second baby) by a friend who had used her services. I first met with her when I was approximately 16 weeks pregnant. She immediately made me feel at ease; she asked many questions about my previous pregnancy and delivery, my current pregnancy and my hopes for my upcoming labour and delivery. She was confident and obviously passionate about her prenatal clients. Most importantly, she expressed a desire to do everything she could to support me and my husband in having the labour and delivery experience that I wanted.
I saw Danielle on a regular basis throughout my pregnancy for prenatal massages. During these sessions, in addition to giving massage treatments, Danielle continued to ask questions and offer support and suggestions as I dealt with the side effects of pregnancy. She met with my husband and I for a casual discussion about our birth plan, and offered to teach us a variety of pain management techniques.
During the final weeks of my pregnancy, Danielle was always available when I needed to contact her, and made me feel comfortable doing so even after several “false alarms”. When I finally went into labour, Danielle quickly met us at the hospital, as per our request. She was calm and encouraging, applying pressure points to help me manage pain and offering a great deal of emotional support and assurance. She acted as a liaison between me and the hospital staff, explaining our birth plan and expectations, and advocating for me when needed. Once I had received an epidural, she moved from pain management acupressure to massage and pressure points that would help the remainder of my delivery go quickly and smoothly. Danielle was gentle in her encouragement, but I knew that I could count on her to tell me what to do if she thought a different position or technique might work better. My husband appreciated Danielle’s relaxed demeanor, and was very comfortable with her; having Danielle focused on the physical aspects of my labour and delivery allowed him to focus entirely on supporting me emotionally.
Once our son was born, Danielle ensured that we were comfortable and feeling alright, then quietly slipped out of the room so we could have a few minutes of alone time as a new family. When she returned, she assisted me in the shower and then accompanied us to the postpartum ward. Danielle stayed with us there until we felt comfortable and settled. About a week after we returned home from the hospital, Danielle paid us a home visit to see how I was doing and gave me a massage to help deal with the postpartum aches and pains.
Both my husband and I were incredibly comfortable with Danielle, and impressed by the quiet, confident support she offered. I know that my pregnancy, labour and delivery experience went more smoothly and was made more relaxed by having Danielle involved.
